The experience

DAy 1 – August 26th

Bishkek | Arrival + City Exploration

Time: Arrive around 11:00 AM
Pace: Easy, exploratory, a few relaxed hours
We’ll be visiting the city of Bishkek by foot on this leisurly, inspiring, and informative walking tour.

Possible locations include:

Visit Ala-Too square, Oak
park, and the museum. Ala-Too was originally known as ‘Lenin Square’
before being re-named after independence in 1991. The large concrete square is dominated by the ‘freedom statue’ and surrounded by
government buildings. The white, block building behind the square is the State History Museum, which contains numerous displays on Kyrgyz and
Soviet history.

Afterwards, a delicious dinner at a local restaurant followed by a folklore group performance!

Overnight: Hotel

Day 2 – August 27th

Bishkek – Song-Kul | Journey into Rural Kyrgyzstan

We leave the capital behind and head toward Kochkor, where the landscapes begin to open up and the pace shifts.

This is the transition day — moving from city to countryside — and often where Kyrgyzstan really starts to sink in.

Expect:
Long open roads
Rolling valleys
Small villages and local life

(350 km, around 6.5 hours of driving)

After a scenic drive from Bishkek, will have lunch in Kochkor with Dungan family (a Muslim ethnic group that emigrated from China). Along the way, visit the Burana Tower, a historical site on the Great Silk Road dating back to the 11th century.

Explore the ruins of the ancient city, the minaret, a small museum, and
observe the collection of balbals (stone figures) and petroglyphs.

Overnight: Yurt Camp (4pax per tent)

Day 3 – August 28th

Son-Kul Lake | Nomadic Life & Horse Trekking

(200 km, around 4-4.5 hours of driving)

Song-Kul Lake via Moldo-Ashuu Pass (3,346 m above the sea level). A picnic lunch along the way at the client’s own expense. Song-Kol is a high-mountain lake located at an altitude of 3,016 meters above the sea level. Nomads spend their summers on the jailoo (summer pastures) with their livestock.

Upon arrival at the yurt camp, lunch in the yurts. Afterwards, we will visit a local nomadic family to get acquainted, enjoy a conversation, and share tea together. The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure.

Overnight: Yurt Camp Nomad Lodge or similar

Over the next two days, we slow way down and fully immerse ourselves in nomadic life:
Horse trekking across open alpine plateaus
Staying in traditional yurts
Wide-open skies, grazing animals, and total quiet
Son-Kul feels untouched — a place where time stretches and modern life feels very far away.

These days are about connection: to the land, to the horses, and to a way of life that has existed here for centuries.

Day 4 – AUGUST 29th

Song-Kul Lake – Naryn

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart from the wilderness and travel to do a city tour of Naryn.

Where we will visit its main highlights, including the local Historical and Ethnographical Museum, with interesting artifacts and samples of tradition and cultural heritage, a local Mosque made of blue mosaic, and a local Park with Statues for World War II heroes, and the main Square.

We also stop at the local market or supermarket to buy food for lunch. Afterwards, transfer to Song-Kul Lake via Moldo-Ashuu Pass (3,346 m above the sea level).

Afterwards, we will visit a local nomadic family to get acquainted, enjoy a conversation, and share tea. The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure.
